Beurre Noisette: Brown Butter Ghee

Beurre Noisette is Lee’s version of brown butter, nutty and delicious. Enjoy as a spread on a slice of crusty bread, melted on popcorn, or in a hot, butter coffee or tea. This Lee's Ghee flavour is also amazing for cooking! Channel your inner French chef and use it to cook your veggies, fish, or meat! 

To make our Beurre Noisette: Brown Butter Ghee, we cook the butter at a higher temperature than the other flavours which gives it a nuttier flavour. This recipe is based on the French style of clarified butter, called 'Beurre Noisette', which literally translates to 'hazelnut butter', due to the fragrant, nutty flavour created.

Note: there are no nuts in the product.


A Lactose-Free Alternative to Butter

  • 99% of the milk solids have been removed during the clarification process, rendering our ghee virtually lactose-free and safe for anyone with lactose-intolerance.

Slow-Cooking Process

  • We use a traditional slow-cooking process which takes 8 hours on a low flame. 
  • The result is a delicious, nutty flavour and signature grainy texture, both signifiers of high quality ghee. 


High Smoke Point

  • Our Plain Jane Ghee has a high smoke point of 250° C.
  • Plain Jane can be used for sautéing, frying and roasting without the risk of creating free radicals or oxidative damage.


A Touch of Gold with Gold Standard!

An earthy tasting ghee with antioxidant properties, Gold Standard can be used for sautéing vegetables, making golden milk or melting on popcorn.

To make our Gold Standard Ghee, we use Certified Organic and non-irradiated turmeric and black pepper. Turmeric root is traditionally used in Ayurveda and is known to be good for digestion, skin problems, and inflammation. Combining turmeric with ghee and black pepper increases the bioavailability of curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric). Although modern medical research has recently proven the health benefits of consuming turmeric, Ayurvedic medicine has been aware of the root's benefits for over five thousand years. 


Anti-Inflammatory Properties

  • Gold Standard contains turmeric and black pepper, which have anti-inflammatory properties. 
  • Turmeric contains curcumin, a potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals.
  • Curcumin is fat-soluble, so it is better absorbed in the body when taken with a fat.
  • Black pepper's constituent, piperine, also aids in the absorption of curcumin.

Our Maple Baby is all grown up! Now called Great Maple, our Canadian-maple infused ghee is infused with pure, Canadian maple syrup and is naturally sweet and satisfying. Spread liberally on a muffin or dollop a spoonful onto a bowl of oatmeal or pancakes.

To make our Great Maple Ghee, we use organic maple syrup from a small family-run producer in Quebec, Canada. Quebec has developed a rigorous ranking and quality inspection process to ensure all maple syrup is pure and unadulterated. Their maple syrup is Certified Organic, which means that each stage of processing, from the development of the sugar bush to the storage of the finished product adheres to strict Canadian organic standards.
